Understand Your Hosting Limits
Before starting your migration, it’s important to understand how our hosting limits work to avoid any hiccups after the transfer.

Note: An inode refers to a single file or folder. If your cPanel account exceeds the limit, some features—like email—may stop working.
If your site uses a lot of inodes (due to large email folders, media-heavy websites, or outdated backups), consider upgrading to one of our VPS packages. Our support team is always happy to analyze your current usage and help you choose the best solution.
We recommend checking with your current provider to see your inode usage before initiating a move.
Migrating Your Website Data

Reseller Hosting Clients
- Up to 20 cPanel-to-cPanel migrations at no cost.
Requirements:
- Must provide full cPanel backups.
- Backup size must not exceed 8GB per account.
Shared Hosting Clients
- 1 free cPanel-to-cPanel migration or
- 1 free manual website migration with a single database.
VPS Clients
- Free WHM-to-WHM transfers if root access is available on the source server.
- If no root access: up to 20 free cPanel-to-cPanel migrations under 8GB each.
Note: If your backup exceeds 8GB or your current host doesn’t use cPanel, we will review and offer a custom migration plan. Some hosts may charge for backups—be sure to request them ahead of time.
For non-cPanel accounts or custom migrations, we involve our Level III technicians for manual transfer. This process takes more time and effort, so we charge a small fee (see below).
Migration Pricing For Custom Transfers
To accommodate custom or complex migrations, we offer:
- Standard Rate: $75/hour
- New Customer Discount: $35 for the first hour

- 10–15 cPanel migrations can be completed per hour.
- Non-cPanel migrations may take 2–4 hours, depending on data size and structure.
To begin the process, open a support ticket with your current hosting login credentials (cPanel, FTP, or control panel) once you’ve signed up with us.
Transferring Your Domain to Vivint Host
Managing your domain and hosting in one place gives you full control and faster support. To transfer your domain to Vivint Host, follow these steps:
Before You Begin:
- Disable Registrar Lock at your current domain provider
- Disable DNSSEC if it’s enabled
- Turn off Privacy Protection (WHOIS privacy)
- Get your EPP/Auth Code from your current provider
Most domain registrars offer these settings in their dashboards. If you can’t find them, contact their support to assist you.
Submit Your Domain Transfer:
- Place a domain transfer order through your Vivint Host dashboard.
- Input your EPP code when prompted during checkout.
Once payment is complete, a confirmation email will be sent to the domain registrant’s contact email. This is why disabling privacy protection is critical—the email must go to an address you have access to.
After verifying the transfer request via email, your domain will typically move over within 2–4 business days.
