How to Set Up Your Web Hosting Account with Vivint Host
We’ve made it easy to get started at Vivint Host. Once your payment goes through, your hosting account is created right away. No waiting, no hassle.
If your domain isn’t active yet-especially when switching from another provider-you can still log into your hosting dashboard and get started. Here’s how the process works from start to finish.
Step 1: Choose Your Hosting Plan
Vivint Host offers a range of cloud hosting packages designed to suit different website needs. The main difference between the plans is how many websites you can host and how many resources (like storage and processing power) you get.
- If you’re running a small website or blog, a basic plan is a great place to start.
- For larger sites or growing businesses, choose a package with more power.
- For websites expecting over 100,000 visitors per month, we recommend looking into our VPS Hosting plans for better performance and control.
Every plan is backed by SSD storage, fast cloud servers, and complete control via cPanel.
Step 2: Set Your Primary Domain Name
During setup, you’ll need to pick the domain name you want to use with your hosting account. You have three choices:
Option 1: Register a New Domain
If you don’t have a domain yet, you can register one directly with us during sign-up. When you choose an annual plan or longer, we’ll cover the cost of your first year’s registration.
Option 2: Transfer an Existing Domain
Already own a domain somewhere else (like GoDaddy or Namecheap)? You can move it over to Vivint Host. This lets us help you manage everything in one place, including DNS settings. And yes, domain transfers are free when you choose a yearly plan or more.
Option 3: Use an Existing Domain (Without Transferring)
If you’d rather keep your domain with your current provider, that works too. Just choose this option and update your domain’s nameservers to point to Vivint Host. We’ll provide the correct nameserver information after checkout.
Step 3: Apply Discounts and Checkout
New customers can save money with seasonal promotions and longer billing cycles. For example, signing up for 36 months can save you up to 47% off your total.
And if you ever need to upgrade later, you can do it from your account dashboard. Any unused balance from your current plan will be applied to your new one automatically.
Step 4: Log into Your Hosting Dashboard
After payment, you can access your hosting account from our client area. Here’s what you’ll see:
- Nameservers - If you're updating your domain manually, use the nameservers listed here.
- Usage Stats - Disk and bandwidth usage may take up to 24 hours to update.
- cPanel Access - Log in to cPanel with a single click. No need to enter your login details again.
