How to Enable/Disable Domain Registrar Lock
Registrar Lock is an essential security feature that helps protect your domain name from unauthorized changes, accidental transfers, or malicious attempts to move your domain to another registrar. At Vivint Host, we make it easy for you to manage this setting through your hosting dashboard.
Follow these steps to enable or disable the registrar lock for your domain:
Step 1: Log in to Your Vivint Host Account
Begin by logging into your Vivint Host Dashboard. Use your registered email and password to access your account.
Step 2: Go to the 'My Domains' Section
Once logged in, click on the ‘My Domains’ button (highlighted in orange) from your client area. This will take you to a list of all domains associated with your account.

Step 3: Select the Domain You Want to Manage
From the list of domains, click on the specific domain name you want to modify.
Example: Let’s select TheBlackPen.com.

Step 4: Navigate to the Registrar Lock Tab
On the domain management page, locate the tab labeled ‘Registrar Lock’. This is typically the fourth tab from the left.

Step 5: Enable or Disable Registrar Lock
You will now see the current status of your domain’s registrar lock:
- If Registrar Lock is enabled, the button will appear green and say “Enabled.” To disable it, click the gray button labeled ‘Disable Registrar Lock’.
- If Registrar Lock is disabled, the button will appear gray. To enable it, click the gray button labeled ‘Enable Registrar Lock’.
This simple toggle ensures your domain is either protected from unauthorized changes or made editable when necessary.
Why Registrar Lock Matters
Enabling registrar lock helps secure your domain from being transferred or modified without your knowledge. Disabling it should only be done when you're intentionally making changes or transferring your domain.
At Vivint Host, your security is our priority. If you’re ever unsure, our 24/7 expert support team is here to help you make the right decision for your domain.
