How to enable/disable Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a powerful security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your Vivint Host account. Instead of relying solely on a password, 2FA requires a second verification step-such as a code from your smartphone, a physical security key (U2F), or biometric authentication (FIDO/WebAuthn). This ensures that even if someone steals your password, they won’t be able to access your account without the second factor.

At Vivint Host, we provide 2FA at no additional cost to help keep your data secure. Whether you're managing your hosting account or cPanel, enabling 2FA is a smart way to prevent unauthorized access.

Below, we’ll walk you through how to enable or disable 2FA on your account.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

When 2FA is enabled, logging into your account requires two things:

  1. Your account password.
  2. A verification code from your mobile device or a physical security key.

This ensures that even if someone has your password, they won’t be able to access your account without also having your second factor.

You can secure both your Vivint Host client area and cPanel account using 2FA.

How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication

To activate 2FA for your Vivint Host account, follow these steps:

> Log in to your Vivint Host dashboard.

> Go to Profile Settings.

> Click on the Security tab.

> Under the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Manage.

> On the page appeared, you will get two 2FA options to enable:

Choose the method that works best for you and follow the prompts to complete setup.

Note: You can only use one 2FA method at a time. It’s not possible to enable both app and device authentication together.

How to Disable Two-Factor Authentication

If you ever need to remove 2FA from your account:

> Log in to your Vivint Host dashboard.

> Go to Profile Settings > Security.

> Under Two-Factor Authentication, click Manage.

> Switch the setting to OFF or click Disable.

We advise disabling 2FA only if necessary and recommend re-enabling it as soon as possible to keep your account protected.
